Five Valleys Indoor Market Celebrates Second Birthday

4 July 2022

The indoor market within Five Valleys shopping centre in Stroud celebrates turning two this weekend with a full line-up of entertainment for shoppers.

Modelled on London’s Borough Market, twenty-one artisan traders have provided Stroud shoppers with the best quality local produce and delicious street food since it’s opening in July 2020.

As part of the birthday celebrations, live music will be on offer from local singers Tom Clissold and Georgia May Matthews throughout the weekend from July 8th until July 10th.

The traders will also be handing out delicious samples to customers throughout the weekend giving people a taste of what’s on offer at the popular shopping destination.

Thai2Go, The Warren and The Artisan Bakery have traded within the market since its launch and have since invested in refits and created jobs leading to a boost in the local economy.

House of Piri and Non-Solo Pasta quickly expanded into larger units following huge take up of their tasty dishes and the couple behind Non-Solo Pasta have now opened a new Italian restaurant, Terra, within the centre’s boutique department store, Sandersons.

As well as the bakery shoppers can shop quality, fresh produce from Waghornes Butchers, Pershore Seafood and Armadeli a fabulous delicatessen offering a range of cheese, charcuterie and other specialist foods.

Owner of Armadeli, Armorel Willoughby, commented on why she chose Five Valleys Indoor Market to relocate her deli business to: “Five Valleys brings a unique selection of artisan producers together to create one big foodie hub for Stroud shoppers.

“Being independent business owners we have the ability to offer fantastic hand-picked or hand-made products that we feel passionate about.

“We also offer the chance for people to shop sustainably by offering as little or as much as a person requires. Whether a customer is cooking for one person or for a party of 20 we can supply just the right amount of everything meaning zero waste and a saving in cost, which is so important as the cost-of-living increases for everyone.”

As well as being able to shop for fresh produce and flowers, shoppers are able to grab a bite to eat from 10 street food units offering Tex-Mex, Portuguese, Thai, Italian, Sushi, BBQ food and Steak to name a few.

For those with a sweet tooth, customers can enjoy a hand-made macaron or French pastry from Choux Bun Appetit, a brownie from Hetty’s Kitchen or crepe from Oh Crepe.

The market’s newest trader, The Sweet Peach, brings something different to Stroud with their Taiwanese bubble teas.

Centre Manager at Five Valleys, Jessica Derham, said: “Each business at our unique market works incredibly hard at their craft to bring something different to Stroud.

“Our weekly late-night markets, which are held every Friday, are growing from strength to strength and we’re looking forward to putting on some entertainment over the birthday weekend to invite our foodie lovers to join us in the celebrations.

“There is something here for everyone from steak, pies to loaded fries. Families can order from different vendors but sit together within our markets dining area.”

Five Valleys is undergoing an extensive multi-million-pound redevelopment programme with a new medical centre opening in September.
