Retailers unveil new outdoor events area at Five Valleys

22 May 2023

A stunning new outdoor events space has been created in the heart of the Stroud shopping centre currently undergoing a multi-million-pound makeover.

The colourful and attractive area provides the perfect sun trap for people to spend time enjoying the summer weather, sampling some tasty street food from the centre’s indoor market and taking a break from a busy shopping trip.

The area came to life last weekend when it hosted a series of food demonstrations by Weber BBQ tying in with the town’s Festival of Food and Drink.

The area will allow the centre to host free family activities and attractions and offer a space outside for putting on live music and entertainment when the market opens until 8pm on a Friday.

Centre Manager at Five Valleys, Jack Simpson, said: “We launched the new events space over the weekend and the feedback was great from both shoppers and our retailers.

“We can’t wait to share the full events diary with you, which will be launching on our brand-new website this week.”

The space will be used for local performers, free children’s events, mother and toddler groups, evening entertainment, cookery demonstrations, fashion shows and more.

As well as providing a colourful area to relax and entertain, the space provides a casual trading spot for a range of different businesses.

Jack continued: “We have an ice cream vendor taking some space soon and we are hoping to secure a wine / cocktail bar to take some space throughout the year. I am interested to hear from any other small businesses who wish to take advantage of the space and footfall here.”

The events space has been the latest in a series of improvements made to the centre including additional planting introduced, flags hung in the mall areas and of course repair works to the lift which have begun today [Monday 22] to get this important facility back up and running as soon as possible.
