Stagecoach West Announces Improved Travel in Gloucestershire

10 September 2021

Stagecoach West has announced a host of new and improved bus services in Gloucester, Cheltenham, and Stroud, as well as new Under 19 and cheaper group tickets, making bus travel in Gloucestershire cheaper, quicker, and easier than ever before.

The local bus company is introducing a wider range of Under 19 tickets to offer cheaper travel for young people in Gloucestershire. The new ticket will allow under 19s in Stroud and Dursley to travel for just £2.80 a day or £11 a week when bought on the Stagecoach Bus App.

Those travelling in groups will also benefit from cheaper ticket prices. For groups of four people travelling together in Stroud, Dursley, Cheltenham, or Gloucester, tickets will now cost just £7.50.

Changes in Stroud have been designed to connect more residents to more places by improving the frequency of services and their routes.

Most services will experience a change in route or service number. The new 64, 65, and 67 services will replace the former 61 service. Great Oldbury will also be served by the new 64 service every 30 minutes on weekdays and hourly on Sundays.

Dursley will once again benefit from an hourly service to Gloucester using the 65 service, now via Stonehouse, as well as hourly buses to Stroud via Uley.

The new 67 service will run every 30 minutes Monday-Saturday between Bussage and Cashes Green, via the town centre. There will also be later buses in the evening and an all-new Sunday service.

Rachel Geliamassi, Managing Director at Stagecoach West, comments: “Our new and improved timetables will offer even better, more affordable services throughout Gloucestershire. The changes will make travel in the county easier than ever before, helping to support our community get back to normal life. After a tough 18 months, we are delighted to be able to help reconnect local residents with the things that matter most to them.”

Centre Manager of Five Valleys Shopping Centre in Stroud, Dionne Moore said: “These changes to the bus services in Stroud are incredibly positive for the town, allowing more local residents and visitors from further afield the chance to reconnect with the fantastic businesses the town has to offer.

“We are particularly pleased with the improvements to the Sunday bus service to and from Stroud which will support our fabulous offering of things to do on a Sunday such as bowling, watching films at the cinema, eating lunch in our indoor market and shopping in our wide range of fashion and homeware stores”.

The Stagecoach West journey planner offers a simple and easy way to find the times for all services.
