  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup grated Gruyere cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) m
  2. Layer the potato mixture in the prepared baking dish, making sure to spread it out evenly.
  3. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter.
  4. In a large bowl, mix together the sliced potatoes, heavy cream, minced garlic, and salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Sprinkle the grated Gruyere cheese over the top of the potatoes.
  6. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Let the gratin cool for a few minutes before serving.
