Local filmmaker to host screening and Q&A at Stroud’s Vue Cinema

27 October 2020

Stroud’s Vue Cinema will be one of 50 venues screening Philophobia this weekend – a new film created and directed by local filmmaker Guy Davies.

Tickets are now available for the launch of the new award-winning, Stroud-based film, screening on Friday 30th October from 7.30pm.

Following the screening on Friday evening there will be a Q&A session with the film’s creator, cast and crew for anyone who would like to learn more about the film and ask any questions.

Philophobia is the first feature length film from Guy, 29, which follows a group of friends during their last week of school - how they spend this time will cost one of them their life and leave them all changed forever.

Philophobia was filmed in Stroud, with many local creatives making up the team behind the production.

Guy said: “I’m incredibly proud of all the amazing people in Stroud who have made this happen - It’s a fully independent film put together with a grassroots effort in the local area and funded by a dozen or so local people from Stroud.

“I am so happy to be able to bring it to the Vue cinema at Five Valleys and share it with the hometown audience. Philophobia is made by Stroud, in Stroud, for Stroud.

"The support of our amazing and creative community would mean the world to everyone involved in the project and we will be doing a Q&A with cast and crew on opening night after the film screens for anyone that would like to stay behind and ask questions.”

Dionne Moore, Five Valleys Centre Manager said: “We are really excited that Guy and his team are attending the launch of his new film at our Vue Cinema here in Stroud and that they are offering something a little different with the exclusive Q&A following the screening.

“We are really proud to get behind a fantastic local filmmaker and we hope the rest of our community will come out and show their support!”

Vue Cinema at Five Valleys have implemented a number of procedures to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience whilst visiting the cinema including a reduced capacity, spaced out seating, a one way system around the building and hand sanitising stations.

Tickets for the showing of Philophobia at Vue Cinema, Five Valleys, are on sale now for £6.99. To view the film schedule and secure tickets please visit https://www.myvue.com/cinema/stroud/film/philophobia/times
