Santander extends lease at Five Valleys in Stroud
11 December 2020
Santander has further committed to the Five Valleys centre in Stroud by renewing the lease on its unit and refurbishing the town centre branch.
While many high street banks have closed branches in recent years Santander has agreed to extend the lease for a further five years to 2025 on the 1,964 sq. ft. Stroud branch.
The bank is located in the mall area at Five Valleys which has undergone a major redevelopment and improvement programme this year.
The works have now been completed which included installing a new shop front and signage at the branch and also a number of internal improvements to modernise the unit.
Five Valleys is owned and managed by the Yorkshire based retail specialists Dransfield Properties Ltd. Since purchasing the centre in June 2018 the company has embarked on a major programme of improvements.
The transformation of the previously run-down centre includes a remodelled and improved car park with a living wall as well as a Borough Market style indoor market which continues to trade through the current lockdown.
The mall area has been reconfigured and modernised with better links to the rest of the town and 2021 will see new restaurants and an independent department store join the line-up.
The organic hair salon Medulla has also recently opened in the unit opposite Santander and the next phase of work will start next year on the delivery of a new Medical Centre as part of the overall project.
Estates Director at Dransfield Properties James Shepherd said: “We are delighted that Santander are extending their lease here at Five Valleys, the company’s further commitment to the centre and the town is great news and testament to the confidence in Stroud as a robust town centre."
Gary Wood, Branch Manager of Santander at Five Valleys said: “We are really pleased to be investing and making improvements to the branch for our Stroud customers here at Five Valleys. We are proud to be part of the improvements at the centre which have delivered a real transformation this year.”
