Stroud Social Success!
20 October 2021
The first ever Stroud Social has left us all wanting more after last weekends extravaganza of live music and kitchen demonstrations. With talks for the next one to be held before the end of the year, we’re positively bubbling with excitement!
Starting
off the Saturday morning with a bang, the Big Friday Jazz Band played a
stunning set drawing a sizable gathering of onlookers with their classic tunes.
People could be seen enjoying brunch outside of Curio Lounge, as well as the
packed-out communal seating for the full length of their set!
The Stanley
Strummers kept the atmosphere going within the Five Valleys centre with their
tranquil harmonies.
As the sun
continued to shine, live demonstration from independent local chefs could be
seen and heard from up and down King Street prompting onlookers to reserve seats
for the most packed out shows! With fan favorites such as Armadeli’s cheese and
wine tasting, Non-Solo Pasta’s Carbonara, Thai2Go’s famous Pad Thai and
OhCrepe’s crepe making tutorial, it was rumoured to be a show stopping event!
Despite the
murky weather Sunday morning, the social brought new music from St Vincent and
the Grenadines, Guitar O.D. and D’Artagnan that brightened up everyone’s day!
Stalls from
Action against Plastic and The Wildlife Trust were also raising money for their
noble causes.
Sub Rooms
also had a fantastic weekend at the Social with acts such as Henger and
Schlomo’s Beatbox adventures for kids, as well as their market in the
Forecourt!
Jess Derham,
Five Valleys Market and Events Coordinator, said “We would like to say a
massive thank you to everyone involved in the Stroud Social weekend! The vendors,
musicians, business owners and stewards did absolutely amazing.”
“Of course,
this wouldn’t have been possible without help from the public! Everyone was so
positive, and it was lovely to welcome customers back onto the high street!”
Stroud
Social was hosted in partnership with Five Valleys Shopping Centre, The Sub
Rooms, Stroud Town Council, Stroud District Council, and the Stroud
and District Chamber of Trade & Commerce.
